Ukiah High’s Summer Academy program, designed to prepare incoming 9th graders for success as a member of Wildcat Nation, is now accepting applicants. Students who attend Summer Academy are provided a crash course in Ukiah High success. They get to meet their teachers, know the physical campus, understand high school and college preparation requirements, and learn strategies for excelling as a freshman in high school.
Summer Academy also provides students with an opportunity to become acquainted with Ukiah High’s Career Technical Education offerings. In past years, students have learned how to change a tire in our Auto Shop, made wine racks for their parents in our Welding Shop, or learned the basics of construction in our Woodshop.
Not only will students be introduced to potential careers in the trades, but Summer Academy students are provided field trips to nearby college campuses to help them envision the future that could be theirs. Ukiah High’s Summer Academy has toured UC Berkeley, UC Davis, San Francisco State, Humboldt State University, Sonoma State University, and Mendocino College.
Summer Academy will run from August 2 to August 12, 2021, from 8:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. Monday-Friday. Students will be provided food while on campus.
If you have an 8th grader ready to become a high schooler, Summer Academy will enable them to enter the halls of Wildcat Nation comfortably and confidently on the first day of school.
